A lovely, balanced Albariño from Benito Santos…

Name: Pequeño santos

Vintage: 2016

Producer: Benito Santos

Region/Country: D.O. Rias Baixas, Spain

Grape Varietal(s): 100% Albariño

Consumed: On a Mediterranean cruise.

Recommended By: A wine shop in the Boqueria Market in Barcelona, Spain – worth a visit in itself!

Cost: About 10 Euros

Bottle Presentation: A colourful, distinct label showcasing red flowers

Appearance: Pale gold

Nose: Medium-to-pronounced, with lychee, honey, and nutty notes.

Taste: Full body with medium acidity. We enjoyed the sweet (banana, pineapple, and honey) and sour (lemon) notes, as well as the enduring minerality.

Finish: A long finish of lemon and minerals

Overall Impression: We were impressed with this well-balanced Albariño, especially the combination of sweet and sour tastes. Although we enjoyed it on its own, it would pair beautifully with seafood or poultry. We would definitely drink it again.

Rating (from 70 to 100): 90/100

Value: 4/5
