We are thrilled to announce our first novel, LOVE DECANTED, will be out in the next couple of months. After a long creative journey involving multiple revisions and reams of paper (all recycled thereafter), we are finally ready to send our baby out into the universe, so to speak.
LOVE DECANTED falls within the romance genre, and it marries love, wine, and France, a delectable combination in our book, pardon the pun. We know it will appeal to many readers, and we’re confident you’ll learn a thing or two about wine in a light-hearted, playful way.
Our logline or “hook,” as some might know it, reads:
Following a devastating miscarriage at the hands of her abusive fiancé, Julie disregards her mother’s admonitions and invites her new boyfriend, Peter, a recently separated father of two, on a wine tasting adventure to the vineyards of Southern France.
Julie, a single school teacher, travels with Peter, a separated mediator with two young sons, from Montréal to France, where they visit some incredible wineries in the Loire Valley, the Médoc, Saint-Émilion, and Sauternes. Along the way, Julie visits some of the places on her (wine) bucket list, including the Château Latour, the Châteaux Margaux, and the Château d’Yquem.
Not only do Julie and Peter discover some fantastic wines, they meet some unforgettable characters, including an outrageous wine “professional” who shows up riding a bike before pulling a switchblade on a block of cheese, a charismatic wine sage who takes them on an internal journey to a “safe” tasting room, and a seemingly innocent calico cat who likes to dine in the lower Saint-Émilion town square without a reservation.
After unexpected guests show up on their last night in Paris, Julie and Peter must both make one of the toughest decisions of their lives while trying to remain true to themselves and, more specifically, to their hearts.

We’ve prepared our own version of 20-questions, which, in practice, tends to be more like 23 questions. But who’s counting? You’ll get to learn what makes each of the main characters laugh, where they would go on a second date, and what they wanted to be when they grew up—some have matured more than others. You’ll also discover their favourite swear word(s), their favourite food and wine pairing, and the wildest thing they have ever done, assuming, of course, they were willing to share it.
