Producer: Palatine Hills Estate Winery

Region/Country: Niagara Lakeshore VQA

Grape Varietal(s): Riesling

Consumed: At home on another beautiful summer’s evening

Recommended By: Jeff Innes, Winemaker at Palatine Hills

Bottle Presentation: Clean, simple label, but might get lost on the shelf

Appearance: Clear, pale lemon

Nose: Medium, with lemon, peach, lychee, and mineral notes

Taste: Somewhere between off-dry and medium, with high acidity, and a light-to-medium body. Flavours included tangerine, cantaloupe, passion fruit, and minerality

Finish: A medium-long finish, with enduring fruit notes

Overall Impression: Another good Riesling from Palatine Hills. This one comes across as somewhat sweet, which will appeal to many. At the same time, the high level of acidity and light-medium body contribute to a well-balanced offering. As an aside, we particularly appreciated our time with Palatine Hills’ Winemaker, Jeff Innes, who hosted a memorable tasting, both in terms of wine and a few stories “from the cellar.” Check out our interview with him here.
